The Omagh bombing was a car bombing on 15 August 1998 in the town of Omagh, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom. It was carried out by a group calling themselves the Real Irish Republican Army, a Provisional Irish Republican Army (IRA) splinter group who opposed the IRA's ceasefire and the Good Friday Agreement, signed earlier in the year. Charles David Pagano is a former American football coach and former player. Pagano spent five seasons in the National Football League (NFL) as head coach of the Indianapolis Colts from 2012–2017. He also served as the defensive coordinator for the Baltimore Ravens in 2011, and as defensive coordinator of the Chicago Bears from 2019–2020. Pagano has also served as an assistant coach for the Oakland Raiders and Cleveland Browns. He is the older brother of John Pagano. After the Colts fired him following the 2017 season, Pagano took a year off from coaching, working as a consultant for the NFL.
Simmba is a 2018 Indian Hindi-language action comedy film directed by Rohit Shetty and written by Yunus Sajawal and Sajid-Farhad. The third installment of Shetty's Cop Universe film franchise, the film was produced by Shetty and Reliance Entertainment under the former's banner Rohit Shetty Picturez as well as Karan Johar, Hiroo Yash Johar and Apoorva Mehta via Dharma Productions, and stars Ranveer Singh, Sonu Sood and Sara Ali Khan, with Ajay Devgn reprising his role of Bajirao Singham in a cameo role. The film follows Sangram "Simmba" Bhalerao, a corrupt police officer hailing from the same town as Singham, who is forced to lead a more righteous path after tragedy strikes those near him. The film is an official remake of the 2015 Telugu-language film Temper.

It was the longest U.S. government shutdown in history and the second federal government shutdown involving furloughs during the presidency of Donald Trump. It occurred when the 115th United States Congress and President Donald Trump could not agree on an appropriations bill to fund the operations of the federal government for the 2019 fiscal year, or a temporary continuing resolution that would extend the deadline for passing a bill. The Antideficiency Act prohibits federal departments or agencies from conducting non-essential operations without appropriations legislation in place. As a result, nine executive departments with around 800,000 employees had to shut down partially or in full, affecting about one-fourth of government activities and causing employees to be furloughed or required to work without being paid. The Congressional Budget Office estimated the shutdown cost the American economy at least $11 billion, excluding indirect costs that were difficult to quantify.

The Groveland Four were four young African American men, Ernest Thomas, Charles Greenlee, Samuel Shepherd and Walter Irvin, who in 1949 were falsely accused of raping 17-year-old Norma Padgett and assaulting her husband on July 16, 1949, in Lake County, Florida. Thomas fled and was killed on July 26, 1949, by a sheriff's posse of 1,000 white men, who shot Thomas over 400 times while he was asleep under a tree in the southern part of Madison County. Greenlee, Shepherd and Irvin were arrested. They were beaten to coerce confessions, but Irvin refused to confess. The three survivors were convicted at trial by an all-white jury. Greenlee was sentenced to life because he was only 16 at the time of the alleged crime; the other two were sentenced to death.
