The killing of Daunte Wright occurred on April 11, 2021, in Brooklyn Center, a city in the U.S. state of Minnesota adjacent to Minneapolis. Daunte Wright, a 20-year-old African-American man, was shot by a police officer after he resisted arrest and re-entered his vehicle during a traffic stop. Oscar Grant III was a 22-year-old African-American man who was killed in the early morning hours of New Year's Day 2009 by BART Police Officer Johannes Mehserle in Oakland, California.
