The killing of Daunte Wright occurred on April 11, 2021, in Brooklyn Center, a city in the U.S. state of Minnesota adjacent to Minneapolis. Daunte Wright, a 20-year-old African-American man, was shot by a police officer after he resisted arrest and re-entered his vehicle during a traffic stop. According to Brooklyn Center police, an officer, whose name has not yet been released, intended to use her taser but discharged her firearm instead, striking Wright with one shot. He drove several blocks before crashing his vehicle into another and hitting a cement barrier. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Robinson broke the baseball color line when he started at first base for the Brooklyn Dodgers on April 15, 1947. When the Dodgers signed Robinson, they heralded the end of racial segregation in professional baseball that had relegated black players to the Negro leagues since the 1880s. Robinson was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1962.

The Kelly criterion is to bet a predetermined fraction of assets, and it can seem counterintuitive. It was described by J. L. Kelly Jr, a researcher at Bell Labs, in 1956.
