World Environment Day (WED) is celebrated on 5 June every year, and is the United Nations' principal vehicle for encouraging awareness and action for the protection of the environment. First held in 1974, it has been a flagship campaign for raising awareness on environmental issues emerging from marine pollution, human overpopulation, and global warming, to sustainable consumption and wildlife crime. World Environment Day has grown to become a global platform for public outreach, with participation from over 143 countries annually. Each year, WED has provided a new theme that major corporations, NGOs, communities, governments and all celebrities worldwide adopt to advocate environmental causes.

X-Press Pearl was a Singaporean container ship which was built in 2021 and was around 186 metres long. It is operated by X-Press Feeders which is regarded as the largest feeder operator in the world. On 20 May 2021, the ship caught fire off the Sri Lankan coast of Colombo. On 27 May 2021, the vessel was engulfed in flames and declared a total loss. The vessel was still afloat, and the fire was extinguished by Sri Lankan Firefighters by the late hours of 27 May 2021. After burning for 12 days the vessel sunk on 2 June 2021 as it was being towed away to deeper sea. According to reports, this fire incident is deemed as the worst marine ecological disaster in Sri Lanka.

Caylee Marie Anthony was an American girl who lived in Orlando, Florida, with her mother, Casey Marie Anthony, and her maternal grandparents, George and Cindy Anthony. On July 15, 2008, she was reported missing in a 9-1-1 call made by Cindy, who said she had not seen Caylee for 31 days and that Casey's car smelled like a dead body had been inside it. Cindy said Casey had given varied explanations as to Caylee's whereabouts before finally telling her that she had not seen Caylee for weeks. Casey lied to detectives, telling them Caylee had been kidnapped by a nanny on June 9, and that she had been trying to find her, too frightened to alert the authorities. She was charged with first-degree murder in October 2008 and pleaded not guilty.

Originally a hip hop group, their musical style has evolved to include a wide range of genres. XXX is a 2002 American action film directed by Rob Cohen, produced by Neal H. Moritz and written by Rich Wilkes.
